GENTLE DENTISTRY FOR CHILDREN and Teens OF ALL AGES
It’s never too early to place children on the path to excellent oral health. Even before the first tooth erupts, you should gently wipe your child’s gums with a clean, moist cloth after each feeding and before bedtime. Teaching children to care for their own teeth as early as possible will prepare them to do so for the rest of their lives. Besides brushing and flossing properly, that also includes developing the habit of visiting the dentist regularly. We recommend bringing children in for their first visit by their first birthday, or shortly after their first primary tooth erupts. Dr. Wright will check to ensure proper development of your child’s teeth and oral structures, and if necessary, recommend treatment in later years to ensure a healthy smile later in life.
FOR PRE-TEENS AND TEENS
By the time children reach their pre-teen and teen years, many of them may experience slight concerns with their dental health. They may exhibit tooth decay and cavities due to inadequate hygiene, or accidental damage like chips and cracks to one or more teeth. In some cases, young adults may experience alignment issues that threaten to throw their bites completely off balance. By keeping a schedule of regular exams and cleanings, children, pre-teens, and teens can receive the expert care they need to ensure a healthy, beautiful smile for the rest of their lives.
